ECOLOGY
What is ecology? Ecology is the study of ecosystems. Among these ecosystems plants, animals, and various types of living things exist. Each species has it's own way of adapting, living, and surviving. Not only can one species easily affect another, even non-living things (abiotic factors) can play majors roles in the cycle of life.
WHAT ARE DIFFERENT SPECIES IN THE EASTERN JAPANESE AREA?
Most commonly known plants in Japan are bamboo, lotus, seven-plants-of Spring, and seven-plants-of-Autumn, Iris, and Day Lilies. Most commonly known animals are Japanese wood peckers, Green Pheasants, Dugong, Stellar's Sea Horse, Bears, Red Fox, Salamanders, etc.
Disruption occurs everywhere, some scenarios don't make a big effect that others do, but regardless, there is still disruption.
HOW DO NON-LIVING FACTORS EFFECT THE WAY THESE SPECIES LIVE?
WATER: Water, in the case of a tsunami, is probably the biggest factor of transformation of life. In a tsunami water is what affects the cycles (mostly). How does water disrupt plant life? In the Tsunami of 2011, the waves had wiped out a lot of plant life, meaning not only did oxygen level decrease, but the disruption of one of the major cycles (carbon cycle) had occurred, as well.
WIND: Wind also played a big part, as well as water. Because the wind (along with the plates sliding against each other, to cause waves) had given the waves an extra push, and had been a factor in the earthquake that had occurred with the tsunami , it is safe to say that wind is also a major cause. Pushing both the tsunami and the quake to its limit, wind had been a major factor in this disaster.
